High-Fructose Corn Syrup Ad 1
I saw a documentary on tv about corn where they said high fructose was a factor on child obesity. Below you'll find web links about it. I'm starting to read the ingredients on everything I buy that's processed. I found that the creamer I buy for my coffee has it, so I won't be buying it anymore. DietBlog says . . . HFCS is

DietBlog says . . . HFCS is high in fructose* (hence the name) where as table sugar is higher in glucose.

• The chemical make-up of HFCS differs from that of glucose in that fructose* isn't broken down before it arrives in the liver, and is instead converted to fat*.
• Research has shown fructose* to have a negative impact on insulin and leptin - the result being greater hunger.

I could give some scientific
I could give some scientific definition about how your metabolism works, but that's not really needed here, all you need to really know about metabolism is this: Your metabolism is like the engine of your body, you take in food, and your metabolism or engine, either uses it for energy, stores it as fat, and or creates the waste product of what couldn't be used.

High fructose corn syrup is bad. Very, VERY bad...
High fructose corn syrup is artifically man-made, which turns cornstarch into a syrup. Since it is not a sugar, but is a processed starch, the human body does not process it like it does sugars. This makes HFCS affect the body in ways related to starches, not sugars. It has been proven to increase the chances of obesity more than sugar consumption, and HFCS does not increase insulin production when consumed, so you eat more of it than you would a sugared food. This makes people gain weight much easier, which leads to other health issues. It's not sugar, and overall, it's not good for the body. It's much worse than other sweetners, especially sugar, because it is a starch, fraudulently pretending it is a sugar.

Is it really worse than sugar?
Not trying to defend it but I've read that high fructose corn syrup contains the same sugars compositionally as other fructose/glucose-based sweeteners like sucrose (or table sugar), honey or fruit juice concentrates. You make a good point about it "pretending to be a sugar". Thats a good way to look at it.
